U.S. President Donald Trump and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa joked about Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Pretoria on April 24 during their conversation in the Oval Office of the White House on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.
The agency published a recording of the conversation between Trump and Ramaphosa on its YouTube channel.
„I called Zelensky and they said he was in South Africa. And I said, „What the hell is he doing in South Africa?“, Trump said jokingly. Ramaphosa, along with journalists present at the meeting, laughed loudly in response. Then the guest continued: “We accepted him and we were lucky because we had the great Nelson Mandela who taught us how to achieve peace. So we dedicated him to some of the lessons. I reminded him that Nelson Mandela taught us this: if you want peace in the country, do it without conditions, sit down and discuss it“, Ramaphosa concluded, now quite seriously.
The President of South Africa is currently on a working visit to the United States, accompanied by a delegation including ministers and businessmen.
