Harvard University sued President Donald Trump's administration on Monday over its decision to strip the Ivy League school of its right to admit foreign students, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
In a complaint filed in Boston federal court, Harvard University called the White House's decision a "blatant violation" of the U.S. Constitution and other federal laws that has an "immediate and devastating effect" on the university and more than 7,000 visa holders.
„With a stroke of a pen, the government tried to wipe out a quarter of Harvard's students - foreign students who "contribute significantly to the university and its mission," Harvard said.
"This is the latest government action that is clearly retaliation for Harvard exercising its First Amendment right to reject government requests to control Harvard's governance, curriculum, and the "ideology" of its faculty and students," the university added.
Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noam on Tuesday ordered the termination of Harvard University's 2025-2026 Student and Visitor Exchange Program accreditation. She accused the institution of "promoting violence, anti-Semitism, and acting in coordination with the Chinese Communist Party."
