Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Marat Karabayev said today that the investigation into the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane near the Kazakh city of Aktau is already at the stage of analyzing the collected materials, the Kazakh news agency KAZINFORM reported, BTA reported.
Emphasizing the fact that the investigation is being led by the Kazakh state, Karabayev noted that "the first stage, which is collecting the materials, has been completed."
"The second stage - analyzing the collected materials, is underway," Karabayev said, adding that "in the process of work, our specialists, together with their foreign colleagues participating in the investigation, have visited Baku, Grozny and Rostov-on-Don."
Karabayev said that all materials related to the crash are in Kazakhstan.
KAZINFORM recalls that on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau in the Mangistau region. The plane was carrying 67 people, including five crew members. As a result of the crash, 38 people died, and 29 survived. Six citizens of Kazakhstan were among the victims.
