Russia continues to work on the draft memorandum that would outline the principles for a possible future peace agreement and a halt to the war in Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said today, as quoted by Reuters.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said after a phone call with his US counterpart Donald Trump earlier this month that Moscow was ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum for a future peace agreement.
Putin added that the memorandum would set out the principles of a possible peace settlement, the timeframe for reaching a possible peace agreement and the details of a possible ceasefire.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that work on the Russian draft memorandum is continuing and once the document is ready, it will be handed over to Ukraine.
„Russia "The development of the draft memorandum on the future peace treaty continues with the definition of a number of points, such as the principles of a peaceful settlement, the deadlines for the possible conclusion of a peace agreement, a potential ceasefire for a certain period of time in case of reaching the relevant agreements," Zakharova said, adding: "As soon as the memorandum is ready, and I would like to note that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov comments on the process of its preparation literally every day, it will be submitted to Kiev. We expect that the Ukrainian side is conducting the same work and will send us its proposals simultaneously with the receipt of the Russian document."
