When asked if he would be ready to provide Iran with new types of weapons to defend against Israel, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Tehran "is not asking us for this", AFP reported.

Iranians are united around the country's leadership after the Israeli strikes. This was said by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the heads of international agencies in St. Petersburg. According to him, an agreement to end hostilities between the countries is possible.

Such an agreement could guarantee Israel's security.

"In the past, we offered our Iranian friends to work together in the field of air defense.

Then they didn't show much interest and that was it.

As for the strategic partnership agreement between Iran and Russia, it doesn't contain any provisions on defense," Putin specified.

The Russian president stressed that military-technical cooperation between the two countries has always remained within the limits of international law.

Putin also said that Israel had agreed to ensure the safety of Russians working at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran.

"Our experts are on the ground, we are talking about more than 200 people," he said, referring to Russian engineers who are helping Iran build two new the reactor at the plant.

"We agreed with the Israeli leadership that their security will be guaranteed," Putin added.
