The Russian Foreign Ministry today called on Israel to immediately stop its airstrikes on the Iranian nuclear power plant in Bushehr, where Russian specialists work, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The only functioning Iranian nuclear power plant uses Russian fuel, which Russia subsequently takes back to store after it is used to reduce the risk of nuclear weapons proliferation.
Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned the United States not to intervene militarily in the Israeli-Iranian conflict. This will have unpredictable and negative consequences, she stressed.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping condemned Israel in a telephone conversation for its strikes on Iran and united around the view that de-escalation is necessary, the Kremlin announced.
