French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that airstrikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure in the context of the conflict between Israel and Iran must be stopped immediately. His statement comes against the backdrop of the eighth day of escalation between the two countries.
"France has been stating clearly and categorically for several days now: there is no justification for attacks on energy infrastructure and against civilians," Macron stressed to journalists during the Bourges air show, quoted by the "Reuters" agency.
The French president called on Tehran to demonstrate its readiness to return to the negotiating table on its nuclear program - a key issue for Paris, which is trying to preserve the remnants of the agreement on Iranian nuclear activities.
At the same time, the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that a hospital in Tehran was hit by a missile in an Israeli strike this morning - a claim spread by the Russian agency TASS.
