Belarusian oppositionist Sergei Tikhanovskaya, husband of former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, was released from prison in Belarus along with 13 other political prisoners, Agence France-Presse reported, citing the non-governmental organization “Vyasna“, which monitors the situation with political prisoners in that country, BTA reported.
"Sergei Tikhanovskaya was pardoned. 13 other prisoners were also released“, the organization said in a message on “Telegram“. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya posted a video showing her hugging a man with a shaved head for a long time, who was kissing her on the neck.
Svetlana Tikhanovskaya then posted on “Ex“ a message in which she thanked in particular US President Donald Trump and “our European allies for all their efforts“.
"My husband Sergei is free! It is difficult to describe the joy I feel“, said Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. “But we are not finished. 1,150 political prisoners remain behind bars. They must all be released“, she added.
My husband Siarhei is free! It’s hard to describe the joy in my heart.
