The city authorities in Berlin, the German armed forces and twelve hospitals in the city are preparing extensively for pessimistic scenarios, including the outbreak of military clashes in the German capital, DPA reported, BTA reported.

An action plan has been presented to Berlin hospitals after two years of work on drawing up a response plan in the event of the outbreak of military clashes and other civil defense scenarios.

The full plan remains secret for security reasons, but at a press conference today, the Berlin Senate presented the important points set out in it.

These include maintaining the services and supply chains necessary for the functioning of hospitals, emergency distribution of patients and ensuring sufficient backup power supply, medical supplies and medicines.

The plan was drawn up against the backdrop of Russia's war against Ukraine and NATO's fears of a further advance into Western Europe.

"Due to the changed threat assessment, civil defense needs to be expanded beyond what has been necessary in recent years," explained Berlin's health senator Ina Csibora.

The most pessimistic scenarios include an increased number of patients combined with infrastructure and resource collapses, a military conflict in Berlin and a complete evacuation of the capital.
