Two brothers in India married the same woman, thus showing themselves as followers of the tradition called polyandry, reported Agence France-Presse, reported BTA.
Brothers Pradeep and Kapil married their chosen one, whose name is being kept secret at this stage, in their village of Shilai in the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh. About 100 people attended the celebration. The marriage was approved by the families of both the groom and the bride. Then the newlyweds boasted on social networks and a real storm arose.
Polyandry is illegal in most countries around the world, including India. But it is tolerated in some extreme northern regions of the country, including those inhabited by the 300,000 members of the Hatti community.
Last year, in the village of Shilai alone, there were five marriages in which several men married the same woman.
Now the newlyweds assure that they will do everything possible for their wife to live in prosperity and do not understand the reactions on social networks directed against polyandry.
