There has been a third suspected cable arson in German rail transport in two days, reported "Frankfurter Rundschau", writes BTA.
After two incendiary devices ignited in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, on Thursday, Saxony-Anhalt has been affected this time. According to "Deutsche Bahn", there was a cable fire on a line near the "Webau" district in Hohenmölsen yesterday evening.
According to initial investigations, this fire was also caused by arson. It is a freight line for transporting coal.
A suspected deliberate fire on cables on the Düsseldorf-Duisburg line has paralyzed the important north-south rail link since Thursday. According to Deutsche Bahn, hundreds of long-distance and regional trains traveling daily on this section through the Ruhr area were affected.
After extensive repair work on the damaged cables, train traffic on the affected routes resumed earlier today. “Everything is running as it should again,” a railway spokeswoman told DPA in Düsseldorf.
The police suspect sabotage and are investigating.
