Romania's Energy Ministry declares emergency - 1

The Romanian Energy Ministry has declared an emergency due to a crisis in crude oil supplies and authorized the release of tens of thousands of tons of oil and diesel fuel from Romania's emergency reserves, Digi24 reports, BTA reported.

The cause is a pollution incident at the Turkish Ceyhan oil terminal, which also affected a shipment of crude oil from Azerbaijan, intended for the Petrobras refinery of the Romanian company OMV Petrom, the websites Profit.ro and News.ro inform.

The shipment of Azerbaijani crude oil, which was supposed to arrive at the port of Constanta, was not received, and this created a temporary shortage of raw material in Petrobras.

„Therefore, OMV Petrom requested the temporary release of 80,000 tons of crude oil and "30,000 tons of diesel from emergency stocks to ensure the continuity of the refinery's operation and maintain a balance on the national petroleum products market," the Ministry of Energy said.

The ministry has also notified the European Commission of the situation.
