Turkish Parliament (Majlis) employee Saliha Ozan died from her wounds at Güven Hospital in Ankara after being stabbed a total of 37 times by her husband, with whom she was in divorce proceedings, yesterday, reported the Birgun newspaper.
According to Birgun, Saliha requested protection from the relevant authorities more than a year ago, and had repeatedly reported threats from her husband. Ozan's testimony also reveals that when the divorce proceedings were filed, her partner threatened to burn down her house and began sending her pictures of various weapons, stating that he would use them against her.
Feminist groups have accused the Turkish authorities of not taking enough action against the murders of women, which according to women's rights organizations in Turkey have exceeded 200 since the beginning of the year.
