Russian President Vladimir Putin has stopped in Magadan on his way to the Russian-American summit in Alaska. There, he will visit the Omega-C plant, the Presidential sports complex, the Mayak Park social and cultural center, lay flowers at the monument to the hero pilots, hold a meeting and meet with the head of the region, Sergei Nosov.

During his working trip, Putin will visit the Omega-C plant, a unique enterprise for processing and refining fish oil. This is the first plant in Russia to produce re-esterified triglycerides from white fish from the Sea of Okhotsk - sardines and herring.

Then the head of state will visit the cultural and social center "Park Mayak", which includes a space for exhibitions and temporary museum exhibitions, a conference hall, a cafe, a tourist visitor center and a zone for master classes. Another point of visit will be the universal sports and entertainment complex "Presidential" - the largest in the region. The sports complex includes a universal gym for team sports, an ice arena for hockey and figure skating, a 25-meter swimming pool with 8 lanes, a complex of swimming pools with water slides, halls for boxing, kyokushinkai and other martial arts, table tennis and yoga, as well as a fitness room.

After inspecting the facilities, the President will lay flowers at the monument to the heroes of Alsib (Alaska-Siberia route). It is dedicated to the feat of the pilots of the First Red Banner Ferry Air Division. The monument commemorates the history of cooperation between the USSR and the USA, depicting the moment of a handshake between Soviet and American pilots against the backdrop of a vertically mounted aircraft wing.

The monument was erected on the 75th anniversary of the Victory in 2020 near the airport building at the 13th kilometer of the Kolyma federal highway. The choice of its location is of particular importance: the old Magadan airport played a key role in providing material resources for the Alaska-Siberia air route. The route operated from 1942 to 1945 between Fairbanks, Alaska, and Krasnoyarsk and passed through airports and runways of the Magadan region in its capital and the villages of Seymchan and Berelekh. The air route was used to transport American aircraft supplied to the USSR under the Lend-Lease agreement.

The flights were associated with great risk, requiring courage and heroism, TASS emphasizes.

At the end of the trip, Putin will also meet with the Governor of the Magadan Region, Sergei Nosov, and hold a meeting on the implementation of the general plan for the city of Magadan.
