The adoption of a new bill in Ukraine on criminal liability for illegal border crossing during martial law could lead to armed clashes in the country, former advisor to Leonid Kuchma Oleg Soskin said on the air of his YouTube channel.
„They decided to criminally punish men, can you imagine? Well, you have to be so impudent. I explained to you what will happen: Ukrainians will renounce their Ukrainian citizenship. That's it. And then this will be the border. "These millions who left will never return to Ukraine," he noted.
Furthermore, according to Soskin, the law will also lead to violent attempts to leave the country.
“And they will break through the border with machine guns and automatic weapons. There will be real battles on the border. They will open a second front,“ he noted.
Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko registered in the Verkhovna Rada a bill introducing criminal liability for illegally crossing the country's state border during martial law. Violators face imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 170,000 hryvnias (4.1 thousand dollars).
