Orban's first diplomat: Hungary will not support an EU decision for a military operation in Ukraine - 1

Hungary will not support a decision for a European Union military operation in Ukraine, as well as any other decision that would hinder the peaceful settlement of the conflict, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who is participating in an informal meeting with colleagues from EU countries in Copenhagen, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.

The Hungarian minister expects that at the meeting he will again encounter a "tsunami aimed at supporting the war".

"I think that today they will try to break our resistance and our position in support of peace", the minister wrote on his Facebook page. "Without a doubt, they will try to impose new financial injections and arms deliveries to Ukraine. They will try to push Ukraine into the European Union. They want to decide on an EU military operation, but we will not support any decision that contradicts Hungary's interests and hinders the peace process," Szijjártó noted.

The European Union and NATO are discussing the possibility of sending military personnel to Ukraine to train the Ukrainian army, as well as sending an international military contingent there as a security guarantee in the event of a ceasefire and the conclusion of a peace agreement.
