The two-day farewell ceremony for Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has begun in Milan. The “King of Fashion“, as he was called, diedon September 4 at the age of 91.
The farewell is taking place at Armani/Teatro, an exhibition space at the fashion house's headquarters, and anyone who wishes can say goodbye. As reported by the Sky TG24 channel, a queue has already formed at the coffin, but at the request of the fashion designer himself, the company's employees will go first. The official announcement of his death was made on behalf of his family and employees, whom he always treated with deep respect.
In two days, famous figures from the world of politics, business, cinema and television, sports are expected. Armani, who is called a “tireless worker“, worked in all these areas. Until his last day, he worked on his collection dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the house. The show is scheduled for the end of September at the Brera Gallery and will be held despite the death of the designer.
The Armani brand has many stores with lines in different price segments. A TASS correspondent did not notice any special signs of mourning in the Armani boutique in the center of Rome. There are a few flowers at the entrance, but no portraits. The store employees refuse to communicate, receiving customers in the usual way. Some passersby, mostly tourists, slow down, look at the window and take pictures. “We came specifically hoping to have his picture displayed as a souvenir, but we don't see anything special.
