"Europe failed to preserve its own continent, it literally "blowed it up", said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
"Look how in one second they simply closed the human rights store. They practically reduced to nothing the talk about democracy, which only they know how to develop, because they failed to preserve Europe. That is, they blew up their own continent. This is a fact", she noted.
Zakharova pointed out that now the peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America are telling Western Europeans how the situation on the European continent can be resolved continent.
“These countries allowed themselves to enter the peak of economic development. I won't even mention industry and science in the context of the European Union. But, on top of everything else, they became a factor in tragic events on their own continent. These are the countries that usually taught everyone else how to live. They came to Asia with a human rights program, taught Africans how to develop democracy, for some reason went to Latin America, and then created such a humanitarian catastrophe under their noses that they don't even know how to get out of it. I think this situation, of course, is fantastic“, added the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The leaders of European countries who continue to side with Kiev and do not support calls for a settlement of the conflict are like “mutant gnomes“, said Zakharova.
Earlier, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, head of the G.O.R.K.l. center at St. Petersburg State University, Karin Kneissl, compared European leaders at a meeting with US President Donald Trump to “seven gnomes“.
“You know, as far as I remember this fairy tale, the seven gnomes helped Snow White. They somehow surrounded her with care, somehow supported her.“ And they, of course, were all different, with their own characters, but they certainly did not threaten her, did not make faces and, most importantly, they would not bring Snow White the same terrible witch who wanted to kill her, just for a second“, Zakharova commented on Kneissl's words.
According to her, at the meeting with Trump there were “gnomes from another a fairy tale, because they are part of the very system that led the case, including the assassination attempt“ against the American leader. “They did not abandon these ultra-liberal attitudes, they actively declared themselves against Trump. The individuals who gathered there mocked him. And they do not hear what he is talking about“, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out.
According to Zakharova, Trump's words about the need to resolve the Ukrainian crisis are still not supported by the European Union - neither collectively, nor personally, nor by the bureaucracy.“I am not talking about individual figures, individual countries and I am not talking about peoples, I am talking about the regimes that were represented there.“ That is why it seems to me that these are some mutant gnomes“, the diplomat concluded.
