„Gazprom“ CEO Alexey Miller said that Europe may experience serious gas supply problems in the event of a cold winter.

„Now we see a reality that is getting worse. We talked about this. Another year will pass and where else will it be cheaper? And if now, as the forecasts say, there is a cold winter, will it be normal? This is a real problem,“ he said.

Miller previously said that Europe does not realize the scale of the problem with pumping gas into underground storage for the upcoming heating season.

According to data from Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) as of August 31, cited by „Gazprom“, only two-thirds of the volume of gas extracted from European underground storage last winter was filled in five months of gas injection. The difference between the extracted and injected volume (as of August 31) is a significant 18.9 billion cubic meters - the second largest for this date in the history of observations.
