Нищо от гореспоменатото не е официално - източникът на информацията за осемцилиндровата версия на компактния седан е публикация в Instagram от allcarsnews. Както беше съобщено по-рано, следващата генерация на IS ще претърпи радикални промени. Външният вид ще отразява облика на Lexus LS, докато интериорът също ще бъде модернизиран. Според информацията, сегашната гама от двигатели ще бъде запазена, като към нея обаче се присъединява атмосферният 5.0-литров V8 агрегат на Lexus. Той задвижваше IS F, който отпадна от продуктовата гама на модела през 2014-а. В генерацията от 2021-а обаче варианта на японския седан с 5.0-литров V8 ще бъде наречен IS 500.

Originally, the IS500 was rumored to come with a 416HP 3.5L TT V6 but I can gladly say it will have the last application of the Lexus naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 which currently makes 472HP in the RC-F! All engines will have an 8 speed gearbox for RWD and AWD models. При IS F осемцилиндровият агрегат генерираше максимална мощност от 416 к.с. и 503 Нм максимален въртящ момент. Понастоящем в купето RC F 5.0-литровият V8 произвежда 472 к.с. и 535 Нм въртящ момент. В момента най-мощната версия на компактния седан е IS 350 F-Sport Blackline Edition, оборудван с 3.5-литров V6 с максимална мощност от 311 к.с.
Ако информацията е вярна, това може да бъде една от последните появи на 5.0-литровия V8 на Toyota. Предишни доклади твърдят, че Toyota и луксозната ѝ марка Lexus се готвят за поетапно спиране на производството на осемцилиндрови двигатели, като по план последният V8 на японския концерн ще бъде монтиран през 2023-та.
